wax lost casting

So, since moving studios into the lovely Young and Husband building and sharing a space with the absolutely inspirational Lara and Teegs of Ink and Spindle, I have started working with some precious metals… soo exciting! AND expensive, wow, I thought paper was expensive!

So I am hoping that some of you will like the new stream I am taking and I can then decide if it will be worth going ahead with a batch these pretty babies. Respect to jewellers and their practice, it’s so much more of an investment to actually go ahead with and execute a concept/product! Daunting.. any feedback or suggestions openly appreciated.

I have firstly hand engraved and carved into wax and then had a master and mould made to be cast in silver and brass.

Breastplate plaques to be finished in either brass or sterling silver.
I have also been thinking of etching these illustrations onto aluminium (being a printmaker and all!) and then anodising them in a range of colours, which I am thinking will be more viable and have a nice quality.
Then I’m planning to knit/crochet a rope chain/cord in an organic linen thread or bonded nylon. Can you see it yet?

Hoop earrings to be finished in sterling silver and possibly enamelled for a bit of colour.

Earring studs to be finished in sterling silver and brass.

Faceted and detail carved rings to be finished in a sterling silver.

Brass masters, filed and cleaned to a create a ‘perfect’ mould.

Paper plaque necklaces, initial stage that inspired this series of work.
